Jill Burton was recognized for her volunteer service to the Silver Lake Library on August 14 during the Northeast Kansas Library System Annual Assembly. Jill received a commemorative clock and the Library received $50 in appreciation of her service.

We appreciate the special funding received this summer for Library programs.
Friends of Kansas Libraries (FoKL) – a grant awarded to the Friends of the Silver Lake Library (FoSLL) to sponsor Eric Vaughn, Magician, performer for the Summer Reading Program.
Destination Libraries – a grant from the Northeast Kansas Library System – funded publicity and coordinator for the Farmers Market as well as for staffing extended hours for the Library on Tuesdays through the end of the year.
Gaming in Libraries – a grant from the State Library of Kansas – funded the purchase of an Xbox 360 console and TV to enhance the Library’s Gaming Programs.
Summer Reading Program – a grant from the State Library of Kansas to promote literacy & reading by providing books for SRP prizes from Scholastic.
Mutt-i-grees Collection Development – a grant from the State Library of Kansas to promote literacy & reading by providing books from the Mutt-i-grees recommended books list. The Silver Lake Library uses Mutt-i-grees in the Library curriculum for programming.
Kansas Notable Books 2014 Collection Development - a grant from the State Library of Kansas to promote literacy & reading by providing books from the list of Kansas Notable Books 2014.
The four grants from the State Library of Kansas were funded through an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Grant.
Thank you to everyone to who participated in Freddy’s Give Back – Night in July . It was a success so we are doing it again. Dates this fall are September 15 & November 17. Hours are 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
